Perigord noir


Black Périgord owes its name to the many forests that afforest the hills overlooking the valley of the rivers Dordogne and Vézère, wonderful landscape. This is a charming destination that has many treasures: prehistoric caves and natural sinkholes; castles and manor houses. Sarlat its capital, a city of art and history conceals under its old stones an exceptional architectural heritage.
Black Périgord occupies the southeastern part of the Dordogne. It consists of plateaus and hills limestone cut by two main valleys: Dordogne and Vézère.

The Perigord have maintained a tradition dating from the Middle Ages in the construction of their houses of ocher stone with slate roofs what unites the landscape of the Dordogne, which is one of the most beautiful regions of France.
