Lascaux caves

A prehistoric museum 18 000 years

Lascaux Cave is one of the most imposing place of art dating back to the Paleolithic. At 45 minutes from the campsite, it brings together an incredible number of works left by our ancestors. At the heart of the cave, there are seven areas that have been decorated by prehistoric artists. The Hall of the Bulls is the most impressive place because of large paintings up to several meters there. Aurochs and horses are also represented. The diverticulum Feline, the Painted Gallery, the Passage, the nave, the apse or the wells are other areas of the cave with amazing scenes, more than a thousand engravings and paintings. To carefully protect these works, the experts of Lascaux have prepared an exact replica of the cave so that all can enjoy its extraordinary ambiance.
